This course is suitable for teachers who are relatively inexperienced in teaching biology, or those looking to enhance and extend their skills and update their teaching strategies for biology. It will focus on developing your understanding of key biological principles and the further develop your skills.  It will provide you with key the strategies needed to teach biology effectively at 11-16 years. 

Outcomes

 

By the end of the course you will:

•have an increased understanding of the biology topics taught within the 11-16 age range
•become more confident and competent in your teaching of biology within the 11-16 age range
•develop an understanding of common student misconceptions in biology and how these can be addressed
•employ the effective use of scientific models relevant to the teaching of biology
