Feedback for learning: formative assessment NE714 / A19
Summary
How does feedback support student learning?
Marking has been identified as an area of excessive workload for teachers, however feedback is a crucial practice to enable students to move forward in their understanding. This course provides evidence-based approaches to using written and oral feedback to support student learning, without increasing your workload. You will focus on developing a classroom culture that encourages formative dialogue, and prepare students to receive feedback and act upon it to further their learning.
Who is this course for?
This course is for primary, secondary and further education teachers. It is a practice-based course, encouraging changes in classroom practice and direct impact on student learning. Classroom examples are provided from a science and mathematics context, but the underlying pedagogy is not subject specific. This course would be suitable for teachers of STEM and non-STEM subjects.
Participants will not need to have any prior experience other than marking and facilitating lessons that they themselves teach. This course compliments our Planning for Learning: Formative Assessment course. However, this course can be taken as a standalone course and all learning will be supported within the content of the course.
