Summary

Primary design & technology is often a subject that is overlooked, sometimes due to time constraints, low confidence of teaching staff or even lack of inspiration.  This course aims to tackle some of those obstacles, providing even the most apprehensive members of staff a chance to come and just 'have a go'.

Outcomes

You will be able to:

  • Select from and use a range of tools and equipment to perform practical tasks for joining and finishing.
  • Select from and use a wide range of materials and components including construction cardboard, paper and plastic.
  • Explore and evaluate a range of existing products; evaluate their ideas and products against design criteria.
  • Build structures exploring how they can be made stronger, stiffer and more stable; explore and use mechanisms, for example, levers and sliders.
