Aspire to STEM cluster - Engineering fairytales- invite only AB700 / A20
Summary
The Engineering Fairytales session links STEM and Engineering with Literacy and Numeracy. Based on traditional tales, these STEM Challenges enable pupils to work in teams, develop their skills and solve an engineering problem for a client (the fairytale character) in the same way STEM Professionals work in real life.
This 2 hour CPD Session is suitable for Early Years Teachers all the way through to KS3 depending on how the activity is differentiated in school, and the challenges would be a perfect transition project for Secondary schools to work with their Primary Feeders. During the session you will learn about the importance of STEM, how Employability Skills and questioning is important and be trained in delivery of the resource. All attendees will also receive a FREE copy of the book resource Engineering Fairytales. The book contains 8 activities that can be undertaken in a whole-class setting over a term or could provide x8 weeks work of STEM Club activity and links STEM and Skills to challenges within traditional tales. Each activity also looks at stereotypes and confronts issues around what engineers do all day and what do they look like.
