Summary
Science is special! This course gives teaching assistants the chance to explore this, and plan how they can support most effectively.
This course aims to help participants understand how science is special and how adults supporting students in science lessons can maximise student success.
Participants will be presented with a variety of strategies to improve their impact on students through their support, and then have the opportunity to make an action plan to improve their own skills and understanding of science.
Outcomes
This course supports participants in understanding how learners make progress in science and in preparing them for success in examinations.
You will be able to:
- understand the strategies that can help to overcome barriers to learning in Science
- know how to build your own subject knowledge and practical skills
- support students in developing their group work and develop their practical and research approaches
- help students to record learning in ways other than writing
