Transforming Secondary science-Making an impact in 2020 RN227 / A01
Summary
Term has begun, you’ve analysed your 2019 examination results and you know that there is a new Ofsted framework; but what next?
This workshop-based day will provide an opportunity to explore the implications for your science teaching. Working with colleagues and learning from expert trainers you will be able to learn practical strategies to enhance science teaching and change practice in your science departments to create more effective teaching and learning and improve outcomes for all you pupils.
The key themes for the sessions are:
Science in the new Ofsted framework; a common-sense approach
From research into action; translating the Education Endowment Foundation recommendations to transform secondary science
Lessons learnt from the 2019 GCSE exams; creating more effective science teaching
There will be a session at the end for action planning for the current academic year to help you return to your school and make a difference to your pupils. This day will include lunch and refreshments and an opportunity to network with other teachers.
Outcomes
You will be able to:
- discuss current good practice in secondary science
- network with colleagues from across your area
- reflect on ways to translate ideas to your school context and plan for action
