Triple Science - preparing for the new GCSEs (Gloucs and N Wilts network) RD793 / I05
Summary
This network will consider what effective teaching and learning of the triple science extension modules could look like and is intended for teachers that have experience of teaching physics, chemistry or biology at KS4. Teachers will consider how practical work can be used to both engage students and to support progress. Teachers will also begin to explore strategies to provide stretch and challenge for higher-attaining students.
Outcomes
You will be able to:
- explore and evaluate different pedagogical approaches in delivery of triple science physics/chemistry/biology to improve outcomes
- support improved attainment in triple science by exploring strategies to stretch and challenge higher-attaining students
- share best practice among teachers from different settings

Notes
Following the approval of the new GCSE specifications, this meeting will focus on curriculum planning. There will be particular emphasis on appropriate curriculum design in order to meet the needs of all students and improve outcomes in the new examination framework.
