Teaching key areas of primary science KS1 - KS2: Evolution for science leaders RD112 / D01
Summary
This one day professional development session will prepare subject leaders to support their staff to deliver the national curriculum 2014. The focus will be on content around variation, adaptation and evolution. Subject leaders will explore their own and others’ subject knowledge, misconceptions and sensitivities around evolution; experience and evaluate a variety of classroom activities, resources and teaching approaches, as well as consider the 2016 interim teacher assessment frameworks. Subject leaders will also explore strategies for enthusing their colleagues through school-based professional development.
You will receive a free copy of the books and CD resource, Let’s Talk about Evolution from Millgate House, and a copy of Focus Education Progression in the new National Curriculum (book).
Outcomes
You will be able to:
- improve confidence in supporting colleagues in the delivery of science
- gain confidence in your subject knowledge and understanding
- identify and challenge misconceptions
- plan a meaningful curriculum which supports progression and deepens understanding
