Summary

Since the introduction of the new specifications have you asked yourself:

“How do I make the teaching of discovery and development of drugs, microbiology, antibiotics and drug resistance more engaging?”

“How can I help my students show their science skills and scientific understanding in unfamiliar contexts?”

With all of the above featuring in the new GCSE specifications and with assessment objectives focussing on assessing students’ skills and understanding in a variety of situations, there has never been a better time for teachers of secondary science to participate in CPD which brings you together with research scientists and to provide stimulating and exciting contexts for you to bring science to life.

We are delighted to confirm that Dr James Blaxland will provide the cutting-edge research background to this unique professional development experience. James has a background in biomedical sciences, food science and pharmaceutical microbiology. He successfully completed a PhD on the antimicrobial effects of hops against Mycobacteria at Cardiff University in 2015. Following on from this Dr Blaxland has focused on identifying other natural products which are antimicrobial against multi-drug resistant bacteria
