Summary

This event takes place at the arable industry's leading technical event, Cereals UK 2018 at Chrishall Grange Duxford Cambridgeshire on Wednesday 13 June 10.00 to 4.00. 
The CPD, run in collaboration with the Institute of Agricultural Engineers, will enable teachers to link with the cutting edge research and industry experts to enhance subject knowledge, widen understanding of the technical concepts used in the arable industry and to develop an understanding of STEM career pathways in the arable farming industry.
Teachers will be given a tour of the show by the CEO of the Institute of Agricultural Engineers and this will be followed by workshops on the technological developments in the farming industry from exhibitors and STEM Ambassadors.
The day will incorporate:

  • Harper Adams University’s ‘Hands Free Hectare’. The first in the world to plant, tend and harvest a crop with only autonomous vehicles and drones Harper Adams will demonstrate their robotic combine harvesting and drilling http://www.cerealsevent.co.uk/agronomy/hands-free-hectare
  • Innovation Insights – Agri-Tech East are running a series of two-minute lightening pitches from over 25 organisations, from start-ups to corporate companies highlighting the new products coming to market.
  • Cover crop drilling demos
  • The Soil Pit - http://www.cerealsevent.co.uk/the-soil-pit providing a worm’s eye view of roots and soil structure
  • Drone Zone -http://www.cerealsevent.co.uk/drone-zone showcasing the latest flying technology
  • Exhibitor visits – John Deere, New Holland, Fendt, Syngenta……

Teachers will also have access to a wide variety of materials from hundreds of exhibitors which can then be used to enhance the curriculum.
A hosted lunch will be followed by free time to further explore this huge event at your leisure.
