Summary

The recent changes in the way semiconductor theory is taught means there is a need for professional learning in areas such as band theory. Professor Rob Martin of The Physics Department at the University of Strathclyde will guide you through the theory, discussing his cutting edge research. There will be a chance to try out experiments and to discuss pedagogical approaches.  

Outcomes

You will be able to:

  • understand the theory behind the semiconductor and LED content they will be teaching
  • perform classroom activities that enhance students’ understanding of these topics
  • describe cutting edge applications of semiconductors and LEDs
