Summary
The aim of this course is to give you the tools to approach the risk assessment process. This course is recommended for Health and Safety Coordinators and equivalent roles, and members of staff and postgraduate students involved in the risk assessment process.
Attendance certificates available on request only, please state if you require an attendance certificate at the time of booking.
Outcomes
By the end of the course you will:
- be aware of the legal background to risk assessment
- know the definition of terms such as accident, hazard, risk, likelihood, severity
- know how to approach to the risk assessment process
- have an understanding of the 5 steps to risk assessment
- know the different types of hazards
- be familiar with the hierarchy of control
- be able to identify the different categories of people who may be harmed
- know how to calculate the risk level attached to a particular hazard
- know how to communicate the risk assessment findings
- recognise the conditions prompting a review of risk assessment
- be able to break down processes into tasks
