Physics A-Level Practical Work RE511 / G02
Summary
This course will prepare teachers to make effective use of practical work in A level physics courses. it is likely to be of particular value to those relatively new to A level teaching. Stipulated practical activities will be carried out with key techniques being covered that include:
- The use of micrometers, calipers and vernier scales
- Plotting a calibration curve
- Manipulation of non-linear data and exponential variables to plot straight line graphs
- Use of datalogging equipment to investigate the discharge of a capacitor
- Use of ionising radiation
Additionally, the course will consider how the activities can be run effectively and be used to support the awarding of the practical endorsement and to improve exam grades.
Outcomes
You will be able to:
• support the development of the required practical competencies so that students master a range of skills, become effective laboratory practitioners and can be awarded the endorsement
