Summary

This course focuses on a range of research based strategies to improve student outcomes. Sessions include strategies to increase student motivation, using assessment in the most effective way, and the use of diagnostic tools to aid planning. There will also be a chance to discuss how these techniques can be shared with colleagues back in school.

Outcomes

At the end of this two day course teachers will be able to:

  • find out what assessment for learning is and how it can be used to improve learning
  • understand the importance of learning intentions and success criteria for teachers and students
  • gain strategies to elicit students' ideas and check for understanding
  • learn how to provide feedback that impacts on students' learning
  • get strategies for differentiation for learning in order to support and move everyone forward
  • ideas for how to map and report students' learning
