The micro:bit is the biggest BBC Education project in 30 years - every 11-12 year old in the UK will receive one. The micro:bit presents a unique opportunity to teachers of STEM subjects; a free, versatile and easy-to-use device that will engage young people and extend learning in science and design & technology.
Involving hands-on introductory sessions and subject-specific learning resources, the course is presented by The National STEM Centre working in partnership with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and the Design and Technology Association (DATA).
Outcomes
You will:
- gain hands-on experience using the BBC micro:bit including basic programming
- explore subject-specific resources to support the micro:bit in the classroom, in science or design & technology
- learn about the BBC Make it Digital initiative and the wide range of resources and projects available for the micro:bit
- understand how to manage the micro:bit in the classroom

Notes
This course will take place at a series of venues across the UK to coincide with the delivery of devices to via schools.
The micro:bit will be available even more widely in the future, and will grow to be a major tool for the integration of programmable technology into the STEM curriculum.
