Teacher Research Workshops - Help Ofqual evaluate this year's new Science GCSEs

Ofqual are looking for teachers who would like to attend workshops to help evaluate the impact of reformed qualifications, specifically the new Science GCSEs.

They would like to invite teachers from across the country to workshops to offer their perspectives on the assessment of this summer’s reformed GCSEs in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Combined Science.

The workshops will be the first opportunity to gather qualitative evidence about things that have gone well and any areas of concern. Feedback will contribute to their thinking about the effectiveness of the reform of these subjects.

The workshops will be held on Tuesday 30th October and Thursday 1st November in a central Coventry location, within walking distance of the main railway station. These are free events with a limited number of places. Travel expenses incurred by teachers will be reimbursed and lunch will be provided.

Ideally they would like teachers who attend to have taught the qualification, in its legacy and reformed version. This is so they can comment on the changes and challenges of the new qualifications and how they have been addressed.

You can register your interest in attending a workshop by following this link to an article about the workshops on the Ofqual website or by clicking on this direct link to the survey.  You then have to enter some details and select that you teach Science GCSE and which specification. Ofqual will email you by the end of September to tell you if you have been selected to take part in the workshop.
