Children in Wheler Class (Y1 and Y2) were very excited when a scaled down model of Apollo Saturn 5 arrived at school, courtesy of Artemis (Leeds Museums Loans Service) Although 40 years have passed since it was last launched, the children were fascinated to learn about how every part of the rocket was used and then discarded-only the tiny command module, carrying three austonauts, was designed to survive and return to Earth.

The children measured each section of the rocket and, using their knowledge of halving and dividing by 10, created their own scaled down versions out of cardboard cylinders which were then wrapped in masking tape and 'mod-roc' for stability.
