New Handbook to Support Students Involvement in Running STEM Clubs

The STEM Clubs portfolio of support has just grown with the addition of a new club handbook.

The Student-Led STEM Clubs Handbook helps secondary and primary schools develop their relationships with each other. Students aged 16-18 are encouraged to run after school club sessions for local primary school pupils over a course of 6-8 weeks. The students design the club content, run the sessions, mentor the pupils and work alongside primary school teachers. It is a brilliant model for secondary school students to develop their essential skills and take on new responsibilities.

The primary school can offer STEM enrichment opportunities that supports pupils learning and knowledge of STEM subjects in a fun, relaxed and enjoyable way that can really benefit the school. It is also a super way to get parents involved, through taster sessions or encouraging the pupils to try out activities home.

The handbook is full of case studies on how different styles of club could work for you and provides plenty of guidance for the students and the teachers. It is free to download and is a super addition to the support programme. A great starting point for students interested in being invovled are the free STEM Clubs Featured Resources - designed to provide 6-8 hours of interactive STEM fun and contain everything you need to know to run the activities!
