David is an experienced leader and Senior School Improvement Consultant, based in the North-East of England. He had extensive physics and science teaching, middle and senior leadership experience in four 11-18 secondary schools before moving to senior positions within three multi-academy trusts. His responsibilities included leadership and teacher development, quality assurance, and supporting schools to improve pupil outcomes.

David currently works part-time as School Improvement Director for Education Village Academy Trust. He is also Director of Newham Learning, a large school-led Area Learning Partnership in London. He previously led a Research School and several large STEM-based DfE- and EEF-funded school improvement programmes. He worked with a group of Science Learning Partnerships to establish Teacher Second Specialism Training (TSST) Physics programmes, successfully retraining over 200 teachers. He has also previously worked as a consultant for a Local Authority based School Improvement Partnership, been an Adviser on the Triple Science Support programme, and held various advisory and leadership positions working with STEM Learning. He was accredited as a Senior Professional Development Lead in 2017 and continues to work with STEM Learning, supporting ENTHUSE partnerships. He has designed and delivered a number of STEM-specific CPD programmes, focusing on leadership and physics. He has also acted in a supervisory capacity for other advisers/consultants.

In addition to his main roles, David also works independently with schools, providing services that include school review, and teacher and leadership development. He is currently leading NPQ specialist and leadership programmes for a local trust, holding training accreditation for a range of NPQ programmes. He is also trained to deliver Research School Network and Let's Think Science programmes. He is also a former Chair of Management Committee (Chair of Governors) for two Pupil Referral Units in London.

David became a Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching in 2022.
