I work part-time as an outreach officer for the National Centre for Earth Observation (NCEO). This means that I think up activities that show and explain the work our scientists do - and then take both the activities and the scientists along to events like science festivals and exhibitions. I also write materials for teachers to use in the classroom, such as those for the EO Detective project (which you can download from this site), so do contact me if you want help in finding any specific images of the Earth from space.

I'm currently working with schools in Leicester, Birmingham and Worcestershire on the Polar Explorer Programme, having been a Space Ambassador on the Tim Peake Primary Project, and, as a STEM Ambassador, I'm contributing to resources to support the understanding and teaching of climate change.

I'm also a professional independent editor, proofreader and writer so you will be unsurprised to find I am passionate about science communication.

Before beginning this pick and mix lifestyle, I taught for many years – mostly science, mostly secondary schools, and mostly in the Midlands. Among the exceptions was a stint working for VSO, when I became quite good at improvising equipment and began the strand of my career which focused on supporting other teachers.
