STEM Learning update: 20.03.2020
Containment of the COVID-19 coronavirus, and its implications, has created new challenges for everyone wanting to support young people, teachers and schools. We are working hard to develop and roll out a range of materials to support you.
- Helping you deliver remote teaching
We have developed an area on the website to share teaching materials from ourselves and other trusted organisations. You can be confident that this is good-quality STEM content, as we’ve taken time to curate and assess it. We will be regularly updating it and if you have resources you think we should include, or areas you would like us to address, please get in touch – we’d love to hear from you. Our education team of experienced subject specialists are also available from 8.30am to 4.30pm on weekdays via our webchat, which you can find in the bottom right hand corner of all our web pages.
- Online CPD activities
We have a large range of online CPD activities. Understandably, in line with public health advice, we’ve temporarily suspended our face-to-face teacher CPD programme, but our excellent online programme is still running, free to use and will be continually extended. We are also looking at how our face-to-face provision can be moved online e.g. via webinars, and will be in touch via our regular emails and social media channels as these go live. If you are currently booked onto a face-to-face activity, we will be in touch shortly. If you have any queries about our courses please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
- STEM Ambassadors
We have been transitioning to an online model over the past year so there is plenty that a STEM Ambassador is still able to do; for example you can register and do training online, plus we’ll be sending out opportunities over the coming weeks for how STEM Ambassadors can get involved supporting teachers and young people virtually. Any individual STEM Ambassadors or employers that want to work with us on reaching out to schools remotely are advised to contact their local Ambassador Hub.
All of our support is free and open access for anyone, so it can be used by teachers and shared with families – please pass it on!
Finally, we would like to thank you for all your efforts during these unprecedented times. We are here to help and support you, young people and the wider community in whatever way we can.
