CyberCenturion

This collection of resources is to support teams participating in the CyberCenturion competition.

CyberCenturion is a national cyber education initiative for 12-18 year-olds in the UK. The program is designed to excite, educate and motivate students to pursue further education and careers in STEM and cybersecurity, which helps to build a diverse talent pool to supply the UK’s workforce needs.

The competition this year only uses Linux and not Windows.  The Windows resources are available for extra practice.

The resources listed include:

  • An Introduction to CyberCenturion - Find out more about the CyberCenturion competition. This brief guide explains what is involved in the competition, who can take part, and the technical requirements. The guide can be used to introduce your school to the competition.
  • CyberCenturion : Competition Rules - The complete competition rules to CyberCenturion. All participating team leaders should consult these rules prior to using any images provided by the CyberCenturion team at STEM Learning.
  • CyberCenturion: Competition Checklist and Rules at a Glance - This brief guide serves as a pre-competition checklist for all participating teams. At a glance, it explains the key steps that should be carried out in preparation for a competition weekend as well as an overview of the key rules of the competition. This should be used in conjunction with the full competition rules.
  • CyberCenturion: Using Images - This short video guides Team Leaders and participants through the process of verifying, extracting and using a CyberCenturion competition image.
  • CyberCenturion: Basics of Cyber Security - A brief introduction to the principles of cyber security and the essential steps to secure Windows and Linux systems.
  • CyberCenturion: Introduction to Linux (Ubuntu) -  An introduction to Linux, using Ubuntu as an example. Basic UI elements and terminal commands are discussed.
  • CyberCenturion: Introduction to Windows 10 - An introduction to Windows, using Windows 10 as an example. Basic UI elements are discussed.
  • CyberCenturion: Ubuntu Advanced Cyber Security - Advanced cyber security features and protocols for Ubuntu are discussed. These will allow teams to identify many of the issues present in early CyberCenturion rounds.
  • CyberCenturion: Windows Advanced Cyber Security - Advanced cyber security features and protocols for Windows are discussed. These will allow teams to identify many of the issues present in early CyberCenturion rounds.
  • CyberCenturion: Interactive Demo - The CyberCenturion demo provides an introduction to the CyberCenturion competition and using virtual images. The demo provides a taster of the activities and tasks that will be included in competition round images, as well as a teacher guide that explains the main types of vulnerabilities that teams will be tasked with securing.
