Starting from Scratch
Scratch is widely used in primary schools to teach children basic programming. This resource goes deeper, making use of the familiar Scratch environment to take students deeper into programming concepts such as:
- Algorithm design
- Parallel and sequential instructions
- Event-driven programming
- Nesting of conditionals
A set of screencast videos provides clear and simple guidance to get up-and-running, as well as running through solutions to the challenges. All required assets for the challenges are provided, as is a printable student workbook.
The resource is linked directly to the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence but can be used flexibly with students in any secondary school, as well as with primary students seeking challenge.
