This book is designed as an introductory text: it assumes no previous knowledge of the subject, and only a minimum understanding of chemistry, physics and mathematics if needed. It provides a sound foundation from which to proceed to the use of more advanced techniques, such as X-ray diffraction, in the study of crystal structures.
