Teaching mental maths strategies 3

Presented as a series of 10-minute whole-class teaching sessions, this text provides a structure for developing mental maths strategies and fluency. For each maths topic there is a full explanation of two or three relevant mental strategies.

"Starter" questions initiate the whole-class teaching session and there is support in relating children's thinking to the given strategy. It can be used as preparation for the mental paper in the national tests for England and Wales.
