Design team: year 1 unit 3 - technology and structures
Scholastic Primary Science is an exciting multi-media teaching resource for the whole of KS1 and KS2. The series comprises 24 units, each on a separate topic, with 4 units per year. Each unit has 5 cards, one per Extended Lesson, and 2 CD-ROMs. The Activities CD-ROM has interactive versions of the Cards with expanded electronic presentations and activities for interactive whiteboards and computers. The Planning and Assessment CD-ROM contains interactive assessments for pupils on particular scientific concepts.
This CD-ROM also contains a full electronic teacher's resource book with extensive guidance and support. Design Team is a Year 1 module focusing on: structures and who makes them (both animal and human); building materials and what makes structures strong; components, moving parts, and joining parts together; bridging of obstacles and what makes a bridge stable; recycling of materials and reuse of structures. Each unit has 5 cards, one per Extended Lesson, and 2 CD-ROMs.
