How do we see thing?
This resource, from the Royal Observatory Greenwich, helps students to understand how we see things, and in particular how light travels.
There is a short video introduction accompanied by two suggested activities.
In the first activity students are encouraged to compare their iris size in the dark and in the light, and to discuss why it needs to change.
In the second activity students are encouraged to describe the difference between objects that give off their own light and objects that reflect light - and why we can see both. This is then exemplified by comparing the Sun and the Moon.
