Sensing circuits
These diagnostic questions and response activities (contained in the zip file) support students in being able to:
- Use the addition rule for p.d. in a series circuit to calculate the p.d. across components.
- Use the ratio rule for p.d. in a series circuit to calculate the p.d. across components.
- Explain changes to the p.d. across components in a potential divider circuit that includes a variable resistor.
- Explain changes to the p.d. across components in a potential divider circuit that includes a thermistor or LDR.
- Explain how a transistor can enable a sensing circuit to turn a device on or off.
The resources include details of common misconceptions and a summary of the research upon which the resources are based.
Download the zip file for all the questions and activities.
