Reproductive Genetic Testing: Technology, Access, and Decision Making

A resource that looks at the genetic testing of embryos and foetuses and the ethical issues surrounding the use of these tests. In a series of activities students can explore the complex scenarios that genetic testing now provides, to choose characteristics and sex of offspring for example, and what the potential barriers for accessing reproductive genetic technologies include. Non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) and preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) processes and the ethical implications raised and existing laws form the main focus. The resources include a summary of the research upon which they are based.
