Lesson 3 - Transferring Information
In this session pupils will be introduced to the idea that parts of a computer are not always in the same place or country, that a system must transfer information using the internet. This session builds on the previous Year 4 unit ‘What is the Internet?’, developing awareness of IP addresses and the protocols that computers have for communicating with each other. Through the activities pupils will be supported to explain that networked digital devices have unique addresses and explain that data is transferred over networks in packets. This session is third in a six session teaching unit provided by the National Centre for Computing Education.
