These diagnostic questions and response activities (contained in the zip file) support students in being able to:

  • Identify magnetic materials that are attracted to both the north- and south-seeking-poles of a magnet.
  • Describe the rules of attraction and repulsion between two magnets.
  • Describe the properties of a magnetic field.  
  • Explain what magnetic field lines represent. 
  • Compare the magnetic fields of different magnets, in order to predict the properties of the magnets.

 The resources include details of common misconceptions and a summary of the research upon which the resources are based.
