Quantum Tech Teacher guide Diffraction patterns
Practical use of diffraction gratings include emission spectra as well as explorations of the wave-particle nature of light and the interference patterns that emerge.
This resource supports teachers to build on established lab practical activities, introducing contextual links into cutting edge quantum research and development. The UK Quantum Technology Hubs use diffraction gratings to trap cold atoms, enabling the exploitation of their quantum properties
It also includes some exploratory activities using feathers and £5 notes to cement knowledge and understanding of diffraction, and related calculations.
