What is quantum mechanical spin

This video explains the term spin.  It introduces the idea of a magnetic dipole in electrons and shows how, in an external magnetic field, electron spins can be aligned or opposed (different quantum states).

However, when considering just two electrons coupled together the possible quantum positions becomes complex.  The coupled spins of the UD and DU states are unstable and so cannot be simply described in these terms.  There is a continuous transition between them.  This quantum mechanical property leads to superposition and is employed in quantum computers.
