Fractions: Year Three
This series of interactive excel sheets aimed at Year Three students explores fractions. Answers can be checked each time and new questions generated at the click of a button.
The first sheet shows a circle split into sections, students have to describe in words the fraction of the circle that has been coloured.
In the second sheet a triangle has been split into 36 equal sections. Students have to shade in a fraction of the whole. Tile numbers can be revealed to help with the task, and a range of possible solutions can also be shown.
The third sheet generates a series of multiple choice questions. Students have to find a fraction of an amount and select the correct answer from three possible options.
The fourth sheet shows a number line containing three consecutive numbers. Students can either place the arrow to show a particular fraction or be asked what fraction the arrow is currently pointing at.
In the following sheet students are given a series of fractions, whole numbers and answers. From these students have to make four correct statements by aligning the given values in the correct sequence.
In the sixth sheet students have to answer a series of true or false questions. A number of different coloured circles are displayed and along with a statement describing the fraction of circles that are a certain colour, students have to say whether they agree with the statement or not.
In the final sheet students have to colour in the correct fraction of a given rectangle.
Note:
This program was designed to be viewed on a screen with a resolution of 1024 x 768. Users may have to adjust the resolution of their screen for the pages to display as was originally intended. The program uses macros which need to be enabled on the users' machine.
