Metal Packaging Museum
The primary activity introduces the theme of museums and collections and links to historical enquiry and interpretation. It also provides opportunities for chronological sequencing and writing explanatory texts. Children look at a variety of examples of metal packing from the late 1800’s to the present day and say what they have found out from their observations. They then create a museum using objects brought in from home, investigating the objects and then labelling them and setting them out for a museum. To support the lessons there are a collection of images of historical packaging and a worksheet with questions to use when investigating objects. This resource has been provided by the Metal Packaging Manufacturers Association, (MPMA).
