Year Three/Four Spring Term
This resource has been created for primary children in mixed year group classes, from seven to nine years of age. The two weekly plans support learning about place value, decimals, addition and subtraction and contain differentiated activities for the different year groups, guided tasks and details of resources required for each lesson. Objectives covered in the lessons include:
Week One
Year Three
- Understand place value in 3-digit numbers by placing them on a line, ordering, comparing and finding a difference
Year Four
- Mental division of whole 2-digit numbers to give 1-place decimals
- Mental multiplication of 1-place decimals to give whole numbers
- Recognise decimal and fraction forms of tenths
- Place 1-place decimals on a number line
- Round tenths to nearest whole
- Compare 1-place decimals and write one in between
Week Two
Year Three
- Mental addition and subtraction of pairs of 2-digit numbers, including near multiples
- Add three 2-digit numbers
Year Four
- Use compact written column addition to add amounts of money
- Use mental subtraction, counting up, to subtract 3-digit numbers
- Find change from £5 or £10 and find a difference between prices
