MT2 Steel Machining

This video from Boxford shows the process of steel CNC machining. It shows the complete process from the initial CAD design through to a finished product. A 2D CAD file is designed using Techsoft Mill Design. CAM processing then takes place, starting with selecting cutting depths by colour. The routing process is then simulated using software and a CNC machine is shown completing the cutting process. Following this the machine completes the engraving process by adding the MT2 logo and additional detailing. Curriculum links include the use of CAD/CAM in the designing, simulating and making of a product and the use of CNC machines to cut and engrave metals.
