Point Zero

In this activity, students assume the roles of various characters placed in difficult situations e.g. investigating a malfunctioning lift system, attempting to avoid activation a floor-based alarm, escaping from an underground railway network. Students will need to use thinking skills, reasoning skills and problem solving to succeed in the set tasks. There are three distinct areas in the activity: *Confined: in which sequences and substitution into formula are required to find a way to get to the ground floor of a tower block using the correct combination of lifts that only stop at certain floors. *Trapped: in which symmetry has to be used to recreate the pattern on the floor, *Lost: in which a series of codes have to be solved in order to find your way out of an underground system.
