Lesson 2: Where Are Glaciers Located?
This resource explores the factors which affect the location of glaciers through a series of activities. In pairs students identify 5 countries which they think have permanent ice from a given list and justify their choices. They then mark on a world map where they think glaciers are located, indicating size and frequency. After a quick-fire quiz, the class compares their own maps with the map in the Power Point presentation and each group considers how accurate they were.. This resource was produced by the Climate Change Schools Project, funded by the Natural Environment Research Council and in association with the Department of Geography at Durham University and Science Learning Centre North East.
