Multiplying and Dividing by Powers of 10

Three instant maths ideas covering how digits move decimal places when numbers are multiplied or divided by powers of ten. Given a starting point and an answer, students are required to decide which power of ten the original number has been multiplied. The third task requires students to explore which cases do not work if the rule: “to multiply by ten, add a zero” is used. Two resource sheets, consisting of headed columns, are included for students to use when carrying of the tasks.
