Starting Data Handling
This book in the Data Handling series from Spectrum Maths was primarily aimed at children working between National Curriculum levels one to three. Activities support children in learning about block graphs, Carroll diagrams, pictograms, frequency tables and mapping diagrams. Each activity contains instructions for the teacher, children’s worksheets, an apparatus list and structured questions to give children experience in interpreting data. There are also ideas for extending activities which could be developed into major projects. Activities are intended to support any mathematical scheme of work and cover the areas of: • collecting, recording and processing data • representing and interpreting data • estimating and calculating probabilities • using and applying mathematics
