Brilliant Bodies

Aimed at Foundation Stage and Key Stage One, this resource contains lessons on naming different body parts, recognising similarities and differences between human bodies, and the importance of exercise for humans. Linked to the topic of animals, including humans, the lessons are introduced by the character Fizzy, who wants to learn more about the human body and explain this to her dog Dizzy. The resource contains three detailed lesson plans including presentations, activities and games, a homework sheet and a reward card.

The lessons are:

  • Dizzy doesn’t get it! Meet Fizzy and understand that she wants the children to find out more about their bodies. Name different body parts.
  • All the same and all different - Begin to recognise the similarities and differences between our bodies.
  • Fizzy’s brilliant balancers - Begin to explore different ways of balancing. Improve their balancing skills with practice.

Produced by the Wellcome Trust, In The Zone is a major UK initiative inspired by the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. It has been awarded the London 2012 Inspire Mark and is part of Get Set +, the official London 2012 education programme.
