This resource, from the Royal Society of Chemistry, provides a relatively quick way of assessing students’ awareness of different bond types. Topics covered in this material are chemical bonding including: ionic, covalent, metallic, polar, hydrogen, dipole-dipole, van der Waals, solvation, dative, double, delocalised. It is primarily intended for students undertaking or having completed post-16 chemistry courses. It may also be used with students aged 14-16 to see if they can identify examples of the more limited range of bond types met at this level. A variety of types of diagram are used to provide students with experience of interpreting the various representation of chemical species.
