The Equilibrium Between Nitrogen Dioxide and Dinitrogen Tetroxide
In this classic demonstration, from the Royal Society of Chemistry, an equilibrium mixture of brown nitrogen dioxide and colourless dinitrogen tetroxide is put into a gas syringe, the position of equilibrium can be determined by the colour. The effect of temperature and pressure on an equilibrium is investigated.
The resource provides a list of apparatus and chemicals needed for the experiment, together with teaching tips.
