The Enthalpy and Entropy Changes on the Vaporisation of Water
In this classic demonstration, from the Royal Society of Chemistry, a kettle of known power is kept boiling for two minutes, the change in mass of the water can be used to calculate the enthalpy and entropy changes.
The resource provides a list of apparatus and chemicals needed for the experiment, together with teaching tips.
Curriculum links include: latent heat, enthalpy changes, entropy changes, Trouton’s rule.
