Living things and their habitats: name that living thing
This resource provides a selection of lesson plans, worksheets and teachers notes relating to Living things and their habitats at Year Four. They include activities which remind children of the characteristics of living things and the basic needs their habitats supply. They use liquorice allsorts to model how simple classification keys work and create branching databases or dichotomous keys to classify minibeasts. In other activities children look at food chains and webs and constructing their own food chains.
They also recognise that environments can change and how this affects plants and animals living there.
Provided by Hamilton Trust, these sessions have been written in line with the new national curriculum (published in 2013).
