Water consumption
This activity focuses on the link between the UK’s current water usage and the predicted increase expected in the future. Looking at a water board website, students think about how the website is set up and the formulae that are being used. They then work in groups to set up their own spreadsheet, inserting formulae to create their own support tool for people considering installing a water meter.
Slides are provided to encourage students to think about how mathematicians, policy makers, scientists and others must work together in an attempt to continue to meet the increasing water demands.
This activity is part of the Pure Water collection of cross curricular resources from the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and is supported by the video Pure Water.
