Research in STEM Subjects

These videos have been developed for the National HE STEM Programme project ‘becoming a STEM enthusiast’ to be used in conjunction with the activities found in this collection. In the following videos researchers talk about the research they are currently undertaking.

Dr Alastair Hibbins talks about the research he undertakes into electromagnetic materials, Professor Chris Smith is researching how to add extra functionality into materials and Professor Dragan Savic talks about his research looking for better utilisation of water resources.

Professor Mitchell Berger looks at the applications of geometry in astrophysics, physics and biology, Professor Peter Vukusic researches natural systems like insects, fish and birds and Professor Frances Wall studies carbonatites, some of the rarest and strangest rocks on the planet.
