Junior Maths Topics Teachers' Handbook
Shropshire Centre for Mathematics Education provides this resource which explains the implementation of the Junior integrated mathematics topics, which were to be used one per half-term. The 24 topics, originally compiled by a small group of teachers from two Shropshire Primary Schools, were designed to complement separate number work and data handling which arose from cross-curricular activities. They also encouraged differentiation by outcome for a wide range of abilities. The topics were intended to provide: *sets of linked activities from a range of mathematical content, to encourage students to appreciate the inter-relatedness of the subject *secure starting points for all students to enable them to fully participate in 'mathematising' *a structure that would allow a major part of the mathematics curriculum to be presented in an investigational way
