Foundation 1: Teacher's Book

This resource from Nelson Thornes is the Teachers' Book which accompanies the Foundation 1 Students Book and is part of a series of books which were developed to deliver the three tier GCSE in Mathematics. The chapter outline provided in the Teacher's Book begins with a list of the main learning outcomes for each chapter and, for comparison purposes, the main learning outcomes for the other two tiers are also listed. These relate directly to the GCSE syllabus for Number, Algebra, Shape, Space and Measures, and Handling Data. An indication of those aspects of Using and Applying Mathematics which are met in the chapter is also provided, together with a summary of the resources needed and the optional IT activity associated with that chapter. Throughout each chapter discussion points are highlighted and answers for the exercises in the Students' Book are provided. In the assessment and revision section of this Teacher's Book, there are a variety of resources including:

  • Mental revision exercises - fourteen tests, one for each chapter of the Students' Book.
  • Mental assessment tests - six tests which contain miscellaneous questions mainly focused on mental arithmetic.
  • Assessment tests - fourteen tests, one for each chapter in the Students' Book.
